That morning, the last Sunday of June 2025, Bali breathed under a mist of drizzle. The wet season, which should’ve long packed up and left, stuck around just long enough to soak a single Sunday. But at the courtyard of Deus Temple Canggu, rain wasn’t a delay—it was the opening act.

DGR is a firm fixture on the Bali riding calendar. 2025 marked our 12th. The ride draws members of the local and expat communities together. We also have something a lot of other cities don't have. One of the prettiest rides in the world.

With no more of an idea than to fly along the highway until the buildings give way to trees, then hang a hard left. Riding by the seat of our pants we plotted a twisted route, the less ridden the better.

We awoke early on the Saturday to mist filling the lake and valley, the first ring-a-ding-dings of a two-stroke starting up tore away the tranquillity of the surroundings and bought everyone back to the very reason why we were here.

From the sea to the ricefields, and back, all in a good cause.

Early one Friday morning in March, we loaded three of our motorbikes into the van we were heading to the hills in answer to an invitation from our friends, the Tasik Adventure community.
