With the sixth annual Deus Nine Foot and Single just one day away, surfers from around the world are starting to roll into Canggu…and so are the waves.
Charts announced last week of a solid swell emerging on the horizon and, like clockwork, it has reached our shores in perfect time. Scheduled to keep pumping throughout the event, the four days of music, art and, most importantly, surfing are set to be little short of spectacular.
But those early arrivals weren’t going to let perfect waves go unridden while they wait for the event to start. The last two days have seen surfers revelling in the solid conditions, testing out the contest sites of Canggu Right and Batu Bolong. Well overhead, it is more the realm of shorter boards, Nine Foot contestants opting for single fins, fishes and more diminutive boards of a more traditional persuasion. Harrison Roach, Zye Norris, Lewie Dunn, Matt Cuddihy and friends took full advantage of the rise in swell at the local breaks and reaped the rewards in full.
It’s just a small taster of what is to come over four days of festivities, but it’s already shaping up to be something pretty special.
