Deus x AGTZ

Developed through the partnership between Zagato and La Squadra, the AGTZ Twin Tail reimagines the spirit of endurance racing through contemporary coachbuilding. For this special one-off, Deus was invited to complete the project with a hand-drawn exterior livery by the brands Creative Director Carby Tuckwell.

"A general rule of thumb with livery design is the more beautiful the form of the car, the greater the challenge to harmonise colour and art...and in the case of the AGTZ it was final boss level. I've been inspired by the form and static speed of cars and bikes since I could hold a pencil and to be invited to work on the AGTZ by La Squadra and Zagato was a huge privilege - I hope the simplicity of palette, shape and graphics complement the work of art that is the car."

"I have always seen Deus Ex Machina as a brand that connects different worlds through its own unique language of communication. I still remember my first visit to their store in Sydney more than a dozen years ago. It was a workshop, a restaurant, and a shop all at once - surfers and motorcyclists gathering in the same place. That is why I was especially pleased to see Deus Ex Machina increasingly embracing automotive culture. Surfing and motorsport are my two greatest passions. While creating the AGTZ Twin Tail project, we drew heavily from the past. We tell the story of Alpine and what happened at Le Mans.
