AN EVENING GATHERING TO APPRICIATE FOUR ARTISTS INTERPRETATION'S OF THE SINGLE FIN.
Emerging from Tom Blakes ingenuity and creativity was the first surfboard fin, a single fin. A design feature stemming from a need to stabilize a surfboard as it rides a wave. Since its creation, the smooth lines and organic form of the fin have captured the attention of many. Think of Lopez riding Pipeline, Dora messing about at Malibu, or that older guy at your local break making it all look too easy. These surfer's ride with elegance and ease, a style of their own. The Deus Gallery’s first exhibit entitled, 'single fin,' will showcase artworks' by four artists: Robert, Carby, Dustin, and Andrew. Much like every surfer has their own style on the wave, each artists brings their own style to the wall. Their inspiration...a single fin. An object so simple that its form surpases its function. Well, thats the da-da-da-da-da. Saturday September 4th escape the city and join us in the rice fields at The Deus Temple of Enthusiasm for the opening of 'single fin'.

On the edge of Harajuku, a bold new sign has risen - The Residence of Impermanence - in Harajuku, Tokyo, is back. Art, surfboards, motorcycles, apparel, café, music - a place where all kinds of enthusiasms collide. Step inside to the Deus Café - a breezy open ceiling space, serving all-day breakfast and the perfect energy for every moment. We're not ones to argue with that. Climb the spiral staircase to surfboards quietly lined against a softly lit backdrop.

Shaped exclusively for the Residence by Takuya “Tappy” Yoshikawa, Tetsuya Ogawa, and Jared Mell, each board is one of a kind. Sofas once beloved at the former Harajuku store — crafted by TRUCK Furniture and Stephen Kenn — have been reupholstered and brought to life for their next chapter. They’ll take on new character with time — just like this place. We invite you to settle in and enjoy the flow.
